App Requirements

Read about minimum requirements to be able to run the app and securely store your experimental aircraft builder logs

Operating System

Kitflight is built exclusively for Apple mobile devices and requires a minimum of iOS 17 (released in 2023). The app runs on both iPhone and iPad, regardless of screen size.

Choosing the Right Platform

iOS is the most popular platform among aviators*. Many builders eventually move on to tools like ForeFlight, which is also exclusive to iOS. If you’re building an aircraft, choosing iOS is a smart long-term decision.

Storage

Since all your logs are safely stored on your device, you’ll need enough free disk space. The estimated space for a completed project is about 2GB, though this depends on the level of detail in your logs and the number of photos attached during your experimental aircraft build.

Permissions

The app will request access to your camera, photo gallery, and contacts so you can take work log photos, attach images from the iOS gallery, and track project contributors. None of this data is shared with Kitflight. Everything remains isolated on your device and personal iCloud.

Internet Connection

The app does not require an internet connection and is fully functional offline. All data is stored locally on your device and is accessible at any time.

iCloud Sync

If you use multiple personal devices or want to store your project safely in the cloud, you can enable iCloud. This requires an internet connection to sync data between devices and sufficient available iCloud storage. It ensures seamless log syncing across your current and future iOS devices.
