App Privacy Policy

KitFlight values your privacy and is committed to providing transparency about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains how the KitFlight mobile application operates with respect to data collection and usage. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

KitFlight does not collect, store, or access any of your personal data. You do not have to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App. All data related to your work logs is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced with your iCloud account.

2. Data Usage and Sync

Local Data. All work logs, images, and annotations are stored directly on your device.
iCloud Sync. If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data will be securely stored in your iCloud account, managed by Apple. We do not store or have access to any of this data.

3. KitFlight Portal (Optional)

KitFlight Portal is an optional online feature of the KitFlight iOS app. When enabled, the app may request permission to access your location. Only your city-level location is used. Precise location data is not collected or shared. This information is used solely to help kit manufacturers and other builders understand where different aircraft models are being built.

The personal information stored by KitFlight is limited to your name and email address.

When using KitFlight Portal, aggregated data related to your build activity may be collected. This includes information such as:

- Project name
- Work log categories and time spent
- Tags and time spent
- Entry types and time spent
- Weekly time spent on the build
- Number of participants and photos attached

Your photos, detailed log entries, and private notes are never uploaded to or shared through KitFlight Portal. All such content remains stored locally on your device unless you explicitly export or share it yourself.

Participation in KitFlight Portal is entirely optional, and disabling it does not affect the core logging functionality of the app.

4. Third-Party Services

KitFlight does not share any personal data with third party services. Any data stored in iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Used Software Libraries

The KitFlight App uses several third-party software libraries to provide core functionality:

1. Firebase. Usage analytics and crash reports.
2. SwiftSoup. To parse HTML and logs import.
3. ZIPFoundation. To create and manage ZIP archives.

Third-party components operate under their own privacy and data handling policies, which complement but are distinct from KitFlight’s own privacy practices.

5. Your Rights

When using KitFlight without the Portal feature, no personal data is collected or stored by KitFlight servers. All logs, photos, and related data remain under your control and are stored locally on your device or in your iCloud account, where you can manage or delete them at any time.

When using the optional KitFlight Portal feature, limited personal data (such as your name and email address) and aggregated build activity data may be processed as described in this policy. You retain control over your data and may request deletion of your Portal account and associated data at any time by contacting support@kitflight.com.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected within the App. Continued use of the App after any changes implies your acceptance of the updated policy.
